June 28, 2005:

We purchased our replacement for the old Mustang.  It sold 6/23/05 to a nice gentleman from Washington state.  We have been trying and trying to figure out what which color frontier to get.  There aren't a whole lot of them to choose from with everything we wanted and we finally settled on a Super Black Crew Cab LE 4 x 4.  We looked all just about all of the competition for the Frontier, and they were not even comparable in features or power or much of anything other than color. The only features we didn't get was Sat radio.  We always listen to MP3's and can't see a need for it at this point, but it can easily be added later.

March 23, 2005:

We were torn between a new Nissan Frontier Crew Cab, or a new Altima.  We were unable to find a Frontier with the exact features we wanted, so we decided to put off selling the Mustang for a bit longer.  We had to do some digging to find an Altima SE-R that we wanted, but after fighting through various hurdles, we were able to find one with exactly everything we wanted.  It is Silver Frost and had 40 miles on it when we took delivery at our credit union.  It has every feature available for the except for any of the NISMO add-ons that I deemed non-necessary, or could be easily added later.  The exhaust note is pure music to my ears and they have made MANY improvements to the car over our old 2002 Altima SE.  The Interior is black leather with red stitching and looks great.  We can't wait to get the windows tented and our license tags issued.  We will be taking a few trips in it during our up coming sabbatical in May.  The engine is rated at 260HP so the car will definitely get down the road, yet should have comparable mileage to our old Altima....  25MPG mixed city/hwy.   I already have 4 cases of Mobile 1 full synthetic oil waiting for the car to reach 10,000 miles prior to the switch over.  Both of us are really happy with the new purchase.  :-)

UPDATE:  5/26/2005

Here are the latest pictures on the car.  You can compare them to the ones below and see quite a difference in our yard, but little in the Mustang after 3 or so years.

.

I've owned this car since 1991 and now feel the urge to move on finally. It is with mixed feelings that I must part with it, as it has been a great car. Guess the fact that it hasn't spent any time at a 'Stealership' is one thing that kept it going strong.

For full details on the car please see this page:  http://volcanosdomain.net/Mustang.htm

I have owned this car since 1991.  It has seen quite a few states in the past 11 years.  (Texas, Colorado, Florida, Arizona, and currently Oregon)  The car has 76,000 miles on the ole ticker.  The car has been in the shop for work only 3 times in its 11 years (not a typical Ford.)  Once for an emissions solenoid failure, second for a starter, last for a bad relay.  The car is a slosh box, but in being so it has been extremely reliable.  It is on its 4th set of tires (Bridgestone KDWS) that were just purchased a month ago from tirerack.com with the wheels that you see on it for $1100.00.  The came with all HW and were balanced with air ready to throw on the car.  I highly recommend Tirerack as they were super to work with.  I tried to order the tires online at the time, but they were being hammered by CodeRed at the time.

I gave them a call and didn't spend anytime on hold.  The guy I talked to was a fellow 1998 ContourSVT owner:  I have done all routine upkeep on the car since day one.  I recently had to change out the radiator and opted for the Ford performance 3 row aluminum.  Don't use radiator cleaner on an old car as it will eat what holds the radiator together away and make it leak.  :(

The car has no performance mods. except for a punched out air box.  I have changed out the instrument gauge faces with a white set.  The interior is in awesome shape.  I just got the first windshield put in it since it was new.  It had a single rock chip that was put there by a crappy Ford dealer during a test drive..... :(   I also changed out the headlights (yellowing) and turn signals as well as the radiator fan. (The dreaded cracked hub fan.)  I took a chance and went with clear side markers.  I think the go well on a white car with out looking TOO RICEY.

UPDATE: 3.17.05:

Car is no more.  I was rear-ended on way to work by a woman that didn't see me at all because of the sun.  She hit me at a 30-45MPH in the rear and propelled me into a Dodge 4x4 Tank.  The car was a total loss....  We're sick about it and are looking for a replacement.  The car did a GREAT job of protecting me from the impact.  We hate to see it die, as it only had 20435 miles on it and hadn't received a single scratch or ding.  We are currently trying to find a replacement for the car.  :*(  I'm banged up and have some back problems as a result and missed approximately 1.5 weeks of work recovering from bumps/bruises.   Physical therapy is a drag, but necessary to recover/discover any other injuries.

We just purchased the Altima 3.5 on 8/15/2002 to replace our poor Ford Contour, that a dealership abused and destroyed transmission as well as engine.  The car had 70 miles on it when we picked it up.  It has ever option available for the Altima.  Is a true pleasure to drive and ride in.  I am just starting to learn all the features and option and their function.  The Bose audio in the car is the best I have heard from a Stock radio in this cars price group as well as MANY cars costing thousands more.  The dealership we bought it from will not see the car again as it is a member of the same car killing company known as Thomason Auto Group.  For anyone living in the Portland Metro area I can only warn you to NEVER step foot onto one of their lots or leave your car for ANY kind of service work as they have NO respect for anyone's property.   We hope to get the car windows tinted soon to accent the color of the car.  Whoops the colors of the car are:  Velvet Beige / Blond Leather interior.  I have seen some aftermarket grills for the car that really look good as well, so the possibilities are endless for the car and we can wait to make it more unique to us.

UPDATE: 8/15/2002

Car is no longer owned by us as we traded in the bucket of bolts after the dealership blew the motor, then after they replaced the engine they failed to refill the MTX resulting in a destroyed transmission as well.  It killed us to get rid of the car, but given all the problems we were afraid to drive the car after they refused to fix the transmission, or at the very least tear it down and inspect it.  I get a warm feeling when I drive our new Altima each day that starts in my butt and works it's way up my back.... OH, it is the heated seats! :-)

Well I finally go off my lazy butt and look some photos.  The quality isn't too good.  We have owned the contour since August 2001.  The previous owner bought the car in December of 2000, so it must have set in a showroom for over a year.  It had 10k miles on it when we bought it and currently as of May 5, 2002 it has 22k miles on it.  I have done a few mods to the car such as upgrading stereo to Sony Explode HU, Infinity 5x7 door speakers, 2 Sony Explode 12" subs.  I replaced the moon roof switch with a lighted one instead of cheapo that Ford puts in that isn't lighted....

Just like my Mustang, I do all the maintenance to the car.  We have had a few issues with idle and dash warp which is currently on recall.  The warranty runs out  in Dec of 2002, and I will definitely be purchasing extended warranty give the many weakness in the car.   The car is tons of fun to drive and own.
