Cannon Beach Oregon is located approximately 1.5 hours west of Portland, OR. The Stephanie Inn is a very small luxury hotel/bed-n-breakfast that is located on the beach. It has 80 luxury rooms and service that caters to your every need. The hotel is located a mile south of Haystack rock (seen above left) and is a less frequented beach in Oregon.
We spent 5 days and 4 nights walking the beach and enjoying the relaxing sound of the surf with the wonderful fresh salty breeze. In all it was a great time that we will look forward to again in the future.
The following pictures were taken during our 5 days there.
It rained nearly the whole time we were there, but it didn't prevent us from walking and enjoying the sights.
You can walk out to the base of the rock at low tide.
The lighthouse on the right is a historic land mark that was built in the early 1900. The only way to get on it (safely) is by air. Many men died in building this lighthouse to protect ships from the rocky Oregon coast. The light house has been unmanned for the last 30-40 years, but was restored in the early 90's.
One of the best features about our room was the bathroom. It had a wonderful 2 person Jacuzzi tub with a shower as well. We watched quite a few DVD movies (benefits of being an Intel geeks) everyday while we were there. We would go freeze on the beach walking around and then warm up in the tub. It was GREAT!!!!
The "thing" we were standing on in the above pictures was a VERY large piece of driftwood. Just seconds after I shot this photo of Theresa a very sneaky wave surprised us and resulted in Theresa getting very wet and me running for the hills trying to avoid getting wet. Every year many persons are killed on the Oregon coast by LARGE waves carrying heavy pieces of drift wood. Lucky we weren't a statistic.
